INCREASING SEMEN VOLUME

Many men are unhappy with the amount of semen that comes out when they ejaculate.  While it is normal for the amount that a man ejaculates to slowly decrease with age, it is not normal for it to decrease dramatically or over a relatively short period of time. The amount of semen that a man ejaculates is dependent on many factors.  Sometimes it is as simple as advising a man to ejaculate less frequently and he finds that his semen volume increases nicely.  However, this technique can only be used or not used, so often, as most men like to ejaculate at least every 2 or 3 days.

Many men closely associate the strength and pleasure of their orgasm with the amount of semen that comes out when they ejaculate.  For this reason and others, many men are quite bothered by a reduction in the amount of semen as compared to when they were younger.

Our workup for men who want to increase their semen volume includes a thorough history, physical exam, blood tests, urine analysis and a semen analysis.

While the treatments to increase a man's semen volume are far from being universally accepted, there are many modalities of treatment.  They include medications, weight reduction, lifestyle modification, biofeedback, sex therapy, acupuncture, nutritional counseling and certain supplements.
